Certificate of Temperament Bureau of Personality
Flat-lay collage on cream paper: three overlapping speech-bubble stickers, a torn note with a hand-drawn sun-and-cloud split down the middle beside a pen, a small alarm-clock cutout, a blank speech-bubble sticker, a torn grid-paper note with an arrow-compass sketch, a diary with a red ribbon and a heart sticker, a steaming coffee-cup sticker on orange washi tape, and a blank torn paper card stamped with a round wax-seal-style seal, scattered among hearts, stars, dots, swirls, and arrow doodles.

This certificate is issued based on a 24-item test and certifies where the bearer’s everyday social energy and emotional reactivity fall among the four classical temperament labels. Attachment 1. Methodology

This certificate is built on an approach that treats the four classical temperament names as tags marking four corners of a single grid, not as boxes a person simply falls into. That grid comes from crossing two dichotomies that show up in daily life and can be observed directly: how much someone's social energy points outward versus inward, and how fast and forcefully their emotions tend to flare. Sanguine, choleric, melancholic, and phlegmatic aren't pictured here as four stand-alone types; research instead shows each one lines up with a quadrant formed wherever those two dichotomies cross.

Twenty-four questions are used, twelve for each dimension. Each dimension is scored independently from its own twelve items, and the stronger-leaning side on each dimension determines which of the four quadrant labels is returned.

The classical labels stay just that here — convenient tags for four zones on the grid, never proof that four distinct human 'types' exist, and never a nod to some literal bodily-fluid mechanism steering behavior; that old idea belongs to history, not to how this test actually works. Genes do shape both dichotomies to a real degree, though never completely — upbringing and daily life keep pushing on the same dial throughout a person's life. A separate, unscored capacity — how well someone reins in a reaction once it's started — is documented as something a person can build up with practice, not a ceiling fixed at birth. Landing on a blend of two neighboring labels, or sitting near the midpoint of either scale, is exactly what a measurement built this way should produce most of the time — it's not a murky or incomplete reading. This certificate also stands on its own: it isn't styled after, and shouldn't be swapped in for, any single named commercial personality questionnaire.

Attachment 2. Frequently Asked Questions

What does my temperament actually mean?

It's a read on two everyday things about you: how much you lean toward other people versus your own space, and how fast and hard your feelings tend to spike. Your answers push each of those two needles toward one side or the other, and whichever pairing they land on gets translated into one of the four old temperament names — that pairing is your result.

What's the difference between temperament and personality?

Temperament is the part of you that shows itself early — in infancy, even — and sits closer to biology; it's also the narrow slice this quiz is built to read, focused on your social energy and how sharply your emotions swing. Personality is the whole, much larger picture that keeps forming for decades afterward, layered on by every experience you have, with temperament working as just one piece feeding into that bigger whole.

Is temperament genetic, or is it more about upbringing?

Genes do real work here, but they don't do all of it — both traits carry a meaningful genetic pull, and everyday environment keeps nudging them as you grow and live your life. Nothing about either trait is locked in purely by DNA, and a one-time quiz answer like this isn't built to hand down some permanent, unchangeable verdict on who you are.

Can you be a mix of two temperaments?

Yes, and honestly it's the norm rather than the exception. The two scales that generate the four labels aren't four separate boxes — they're sliding scales, which means most people's answers cluster somewhere between two neighboring labels, or sit close to the midpoint of one or even both scales, rather than pinned all the way to one extreme on each. That's just how a measurement built this way is expected to come out, not evidence of a murky or borderline reading.

Which temperament is the rarest?

Truthfully, there isn't solid population data anywhere to give you a real answer. The few sources that attempt one don't even agree among themselves, so rather than invent a rarity ranking, this test simply reports where your own answers place you on the two dimensions it actually scores.
